Southport midfielder Aaron Turner says the club will survive in the Blue Square Bet Premier this season. The Sandgrounders need at least a point from Saturday's trip to Kettering to ensure their place in the division.

Turner told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We've put in some good performances and we know we're good enough to stay in this league.

"We've matched the top teams and I can't see why we can't stay in the league. In my opinion, we'll stay up."

Southport have taken four points from their last two games against Tamworth and Darlington, after conceding 10 goals in their previous two games against Luton and Crawley.

Turner says the players are fully aware of what they need to do in Northamptonshire at the weekend.

"If we can get a win, then there is no worries, but if we get a point then it's still good," Turner continued. "But we're going for the three points and hopefully we can come away with them.

"We must prepare well for the game and hopefully come Saturday we can do it. We must go to Kettering and do what we can do and play like we can."
